In Love It or List It season 7 episode 6, titled "Sister Strife," interior designer Hilary Farr and real estate agent David Visentin are tasked with helping a family decide whether to stay in their current home or find a new one that better fits their needs. The family in question consists of two sisters who have shared a house for over 20 years, along with one of the sister's husbands and their teenage son.
The sisters have different opinions on what changes need to be made to the house in order to make it more comfortable for everyone. One sister wants to renovate the existing space and create a more open floor plan that better accommodates their family's needs, including a larger kitchen and more storage space. The other sister, on the other hand, is ready to move on and find a new home that better reflects their changing lifestyle.
David takes the family on tours of several potential new homes in the area, including some that are move-in ready and others that would require some renovations. Throughout the process, he takes into account their budget, must-haves, and location preferences, all while trying to sway them towards the option of selling their current home.
Meanwhile, Hilary works on transforming their existing home, addressing each sister's concerns and creating a design that meets the family's needs. She communicates with the homeowners throughout the renovation process, providing them with updates and seeking their input on design decisions.
As the renovation and house-hunting processes come to a close, the sisters must come together and make a difficult decision: whether to love their newly transformed home, or list it and start fresh in a new space. Hilary and David are on hand to help them navigate this decision and ensure that they make the choice that is best for their family's needs and lifestyle.
