In the season 2 premiere of Make It or Break It titled "Friends Close, Enemies Closer," the girls return to training at The Rock following their disappointing finish at Nationals. The new season brings new challenges as the girls must balance their personal lives with their rigorous training schedule.
Emily is focused on recovering from her injury sustained at Nationals and getting back to peak performance. Meanwhile, Kaylie struggles with the aftermath of discovering her father's affair and her parents' impending divorce. Payson, after being hailed as a hero for her performance at Nationals, must deal with the pressure of maintaining her status as a top gymnast.
The girls also face a new challenge in the form of the Chinese gymnastics team, who have come to The Rock for a training camp. The Chinese team are skilled and disciplined, and the pressure to compete with them causes tension among the girls and their coaches.
