Ep 9. Hockey Hideaway

In season 3 episode 9 of Man Caves, titled "Hockey Hideaway," co-hosts Jason Cameron and Tony "Goose" Siragusa head to northwestern New Jersey to create the ultimate man cave for a hockey-loving family.

The episode starts with the family showing Cameron and Siragusa their unfinished basement. They explain that they want to turn it into a space where dad and his hockey friends can hang out and watch games, while still being family-friendly for their two young boys.

Cameron and Siragusa get right to work, with Cameron taking charge of the design and construction while Siragusa handles the entertainment features. The first step is to create a focal point for the room, which Cameron does by building a custom bar with a sleek, modern design. The bar includes a stainless steel countertop, a built-in beer tap, and a custom backsplash featuring the family's favorite NHL team.

While Cameron works on the bar, Siragusa adds some fun to the space with a variety of entertainment features, including a shuffleboard table, a retro arcade game, and a giant wall-mounted TV. He also installs a sound system with outdoor speakers, so the family can enjoy music while barbecuing outside.

Next, Cameron turns his attention to the walls, which he covers with a combination of brick veneer and wood paneling to give the space a rustic, industrial feel. He also builds a custom bench with hidden storage, which doubles as a place to sit and put on skates before heading out to the backyard rink.

Speaking of the rink, Cameron and Siragusa head outside to create the ultimate spot for the family to play hockey. They start by clearing and leveling the area, then lay down a professional-grade synthetic ice surface. They add boards and netting around the perimeter, as well as a set of regulation-size goal posts.

Finally, with all the elements in place, Cameron and Siragusa put the finishing touches on the space. Cameron adds custom lighting fixtures throughout the room, including a pendant light made from an old hockey stick. Siragusa installs a state-of-the-art home theater system, with a projector and screen that can be hidden when not in use.

The big reveal is a huge success, with the family thrilled with their new hockey hideaway. They immediately head out to the rink to test out their new gear and play a game of pickup hockey. Cameron and Siragusa sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor, happy to have created another amazing man cave.
