Ep 9. Opening Up the Ex-Files

In Married by Mom and Dad season 2 episode 9, titled "Opening Up the Ex-Files," the four singles who have put their love lives in the hands of their parents are being confronted with some difficult choices. The episode starts off with Christina, who's struggling with the fact that the man she's been set up with, Tom, is still in love with his ex-girlfriend. Her mother and father sit down with her to discuss the situation, and Christina is understandably upset. She's worried that Tom's lingering feelings for his ex will prevent them from building a real connection, and her mom and dad have to offer some tough love.

Over in Chicago, Chistine's fellow single, John, is dealing with the exact opposite problem. His parents have arranged for him to go on a date with a woman named Rachel, who's still close with her ex-boyfriend. John's not sure how to feel about this - he doesn't want to be anyone's second choice, and he's not sure Rachel's fully over her ex. However, his parents point out that everyone has baggage, and it's up to John to decide whether Rachel's worth taking a chance on.

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, Devin is having doubts about his arranged bride, Ursula. He's concerned that they don't have enough in common, and that they'll never be able to build a life together. Ursula, on the other hand, is very excited about the possibility of marrying Devin, and is frustrated that he's not more enthusiastic about their relationship. They soon come to a realization that the problem is a lack of communication.

Last but not least, the lone woman in the group - Marivic - is having a tough time with her parents' matchmaking skills. She's been set up with a man named Rob, who's handsome and charming, but seems to be more interested in partying than settling down. Marivic's hesitant to write Rob off completely - after all, their chemistry is undeniable - but she does confront him about his lifestyle and his intentions. Rob has to prove to Marivic that he's serious about finding a wife, and this will be make or break for the couple.

As always, the parents are heavily involved in their kids' lives, sometimes to the point of annoyance. But, it's clear that they only have their children's best interests at heart, and that they truly believe in the process of arranged marriage. In this episode, they're all tasked with helping their kids navigate the often-tricky waters of past relationships. Will they be able to guide their children towards true love, or will they end up causing more heartache? Viewers will have to tune in to find out.
