The episode is a flashback, but it also provides us with a sense of the present because of the connection between the events of past and present. The flashback and the present are interconnected, and it keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats.

This flashback episode also shows us how Matt met Claire Temple, a practicing nurse who helps him when he is badly injured. She stitches him up and tends to his wounds, all while keeping his identity secret. Claire proves to be an essential ally for Daredevil in many ways.

We also get to see Daredevil's combat skills in this episode. The fight choreography is intense and raw, with Daredevil taking on multiple opponents at once. Daredevil's combat skills are showcased beautifully, with him relying heavily on his other senses to anticipate and react to his opponents' moves.

The episode also introduces us to Wilson Fisk, the main antagonist of the series. Fisk is shown as a menacing figure, with his presence being felt even before his actual appearance. His minions do his bidding, and he holds significant power in Hell's Kitchen.

One of the standout scenes of the episode is the single-shot fight sequence. The sequence is breathtaking, with Daredevil taking on a group of Russian thugs in a tight space. The camerawork is superb, with the camera following Daredevil's every move in one long take. The fight scene is one of the highlights of the series and sets a high bar for the rest of the fight sequences.

Cut Man is an excellent episode that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The flashbacks provide essential context to Matt's character, and we get to see how he came to be the Daredevil. The intense fight sequences add to the thrill of the episode, and the single-shot fight sequence is a standout moment. The show's introduction of Wilson Fisk also adds to the anticipation of what's to come in future episodes.
