Ep 1. Episode 1

Matt Murdock, better known as Daredevil, returns in an action-packed premiere in the third season of Marvel's Daredevil. The episode begins with Matt, who was presumed dead, waking up in a convent after the events of The Defenders. He is injured, suffering from a shattered spine, and unable to see. His senses have become more acute, and he can detect sound with precision. In a vulnerable state, he reminisces about his past mistakes and all those he has lost, including his ex-girlfriend Karen Page.

Karen, on the other hand, is now a respected journalist at the Bulletin and is writing a story on William "Billy" Russo and the Hell's Kitchen gangs. She has been instrumental in revealing the truth about New York's devastating loss in The Defenders to the public. Her persistence and dedication put her in danger as she uncovers leads related to the gangs.

Wilson Fisk, the notorious 'Kingpin,' is back in prison, awaiting his trial, which is in itself a challenge to the justice system. Fisk orchestrates a well thought out sequence, utilizing his people outside the prison, to kill his fellow inmates, including the Albanian crime lord, and take over the prison. With this heinous act, Fisk gains the respect of nearly all the inmates; even the ones related to the gangs forfeit their allegiance and pledge their loyalty to Fisk, making him more powerful than ever.

Foggy Nelson, the partner and friend of Matt Murdock, have moved on after the heart-wrenching events of the second season. He is now a successful and well-respected attorney and is flirting with his colleague, Marci. Foggy is busy with his bar exam and has no time for Daredevil's return. He believes that his friend died in Midland Circle along with Elektra. He has no idea that Matt has survived and is on the verge of making a return to crime fighting.

As the episode progresses, audiences are treated to a significant action sequence of Daredevil saving a young boy kidnapped by the Albanian Mafia and bringing him to safety. Viewers also get a glimpse of a more incisive and ruthless Daredevil, who seems to have lost his moral compass but still retains his humanity.

Finally, the episode concludes with Karen angry and frustrated that the story she has written on Russo is rejected by her editor. She confronts Fisk, asking how he managed to get his message out to the press, and Fisk assures her that he is resourceful. Karen, who we know has a dark past, is interpreted as frightened by Fisk, and the audience can sense that this meeting is going to have grave consequences.

Overall, the first episode of season 3 of Marvel’s Daredevil is a fantastic comeback story. It is engaging, intense and compellingly drawn, with incredible martial arts choreography. The show maintains its dramatic tone and is faithful to the source material, giving a grittier, more serious superhero take on a classic comic book character. The episode sets an impactful tone for the rest of the season, giving a foreboding premonition of danger to come, and anticipation on the viewers' side to see how these escalating situations will be resolved.
