Ep 4. His Banana Majesty

Detective Joe Teague is back on the case in Mob City season 1 episode 4, "His Banana Majesty." When a former member of Bugsy Siegel's crew goes missing, Teague is called in to investigate. The case forces Teague to confront his past and make dangerous alliances in order to solve the mystery.

The episode opens with Teague receiving a summons to meet with Bugsy Siegel, who has a job for him. Siegel explains that one of his former crew members, Johnny Mello, has gone missing. Mello, a produce dealer, was involved in a recent shipment of bananas that went missing, along with $50,000. Siegel believes that Mello may have double-crossed him and wants Teague to find out where he's gone.

Teague initially refuses the job, but Siegel reminds him that he owes him a favor. Flashbacks reveal that Teague had previously saved Siegel's life by killing a man who was about to shoot him. Reluctantly, Teague agrees to the job.

Teague's investigation leads him to a banana warehouse owned by a man named Woods, who denies any involvement in the theft. However, Teague notices that Woods' truck is parked outside the warehouse and has recent damage that appears to have been caused by a collision with another vehicle. Teague believes that this could be the truck that transported the stolen bananas.

Teague follows Woods to a nearby bar, where he meets with a group of men including a man named Hecky Nash. Nash is a well-known criminal and was previously involved in a murder case that Teague investigated. Teague approaches Nash, hoping to get information about Mello's whereabouts. Nash tells Teague that Mello is in Baja, Mexico, and offers to take him there for $500.

Teague agrees, but before they can leave, they are ambushed by a group of men who attempt to kill Nash. Teague manages to kill one of the men and appears to recognize him. He then makes a deal with Nash to split the $50,000 from the stolen bananas in exchange for his help.

Nash takes Teague to a small village in Baja, where they find Mello living under a new identity. Mello denies any involvement in the theft and claims that he fled because he owed money to some dangerous people. Teague is skeptical but decides to bring Mello back to Los Angeles to face Siegel.

Back in Los Angeles, Teague and Mello are attacked by a group of armed men. In the ensuing gunfight, Teague manages to kill all of the assailants but Mello is critically wounded. Teague brings Mello to a doctor who is sympathetic to his cause, but it soon becomes apparent that the doctor is involved in the theft of the bananas.

Teague confronts the doctor, who reveals that the bananas were stolen by a group of corrupt police officers and that Mello was simply caught in the crossfire. The doctor offers to help Teague take down the corrupt cops, but warns him that it may be too dangerous.

The episode ends with Teague and the doctor making plans to bring down the corrupt cops, and Teague reflecting on the dangerous path that his investigation has taken him down.

Overall, "His Banana Majesty" is a fast-paced and action-packed episode of Mob City that delivers plenty of twists and turns. While the plot may be somewhat convoluted at times, the strong performances by the cast keep the audience engaged and invested in the outcome. The episode also continues to explore the complicated relationships between the various characters, particularly Teague and Siegel.
