Monstar is a South Korean TV drama series that originally aired in 2013. It revolves around a group of high school students who come together to form a band while dealing with their personal struggles and relationships. In episode 1, we are introduced to the main characters and their backgrounds.

The episode begins with a flashback of a young girl named Yoon Sul-Chan (played by Yong Jun-hyung), who is performing on stage at a talent show. However, he is suddenly interrupted by another contestant, who claims that he plagiarized his performance. This leads to a physical altercation and Sul-Chan being banned from performing for the next three years.

Fast forward to the present day, and we see Sul-Chan as a troubled high school student who is known for his bad behavior and frequent run-ins with the law. He is taken to a new school by his mother, who hopes that a change of environment will help him straighten out his life.

At school, Sul-Chan catches the attention of a group of students who are in the process of forming a band. The group consists of Min Se-yi (played by Ha Yeon-soo), a transfer student from New Zealand, Yoon Seol-chan (played by Kang Ha-neul), a popular student who dreams of becoming a singer, and Park Kyu-dong (played by Park Kyu-sun), a quiet boy who is skilled at playing the guitar.

They initially try to recruit Sul-Chan as their lead vocalist, but he declines, claiming that he is not interested in music. However, Seol-chan sees potential in Sul-Chan and decides to give him a chance by inviting him to watch their practice session.

Sul-Chan eventually joins the band after being impressed by their talents and passion for music. He also starts to develop feelings for Se-yi, who seems to be the only one who can understand him and his troubled past.

As the episode progresses, we see glimpses into the personal struggles of each of the characters. Seol-chan is under pressure from his overbearing mother to succeed in the entertainment industry, while Se-yi is dealing with the aftermath of her parents' divorce.

The episode ends with the band performing a cover of a popular song on the school rooftop, which garners a lot of attention from their classmates. Sul-Chan finally reveals his true identity as the talented performer from the talent show, which shocks and impresses his new friends.

Overall, episode 1 of Monstar sets the stage for an engaging and emotional coming-of-age story. The characters are complex and relatable, and the music adds an extra layer of depth to their struggles and dreams. It leaves viewers wanting to know more about the characters and what challenges they will face as they pursue their passion for music.
