Harry is worried about the store due to the increasingly heated situation in Europe, and comes up with an idea to display English-made goods prominently to support local businesses. His plan causes some friction with the French suppliers, but eventually pays off with a rousing patriotic display that brings in many customers.
Meanwhile, Agnes is tasked with designing a display for a new line of clothing that has been designed for the modern, active woman. She struggles with finding a suitable concept until she is encouraged by Mr. Selfridge. A chance encounter with Henri leads to an unexpected development in their relationship, and Henri challenges Agnes to take a chance on another romantic encounter.
Violette continues to struggle with her burgeoning feelings for Victor, and starts acting out in childish ways. She is clearly jealous of her mother's affections toward the charming artist, and her behavior only causes more tension in the already strained relationship between Rose and Denis. Meanwhile, Lady Loxley has her sights set on a new suitor, and is determined to make her husband pay for his infidelities.
As tension mounts in the political arena, Harry worries about the future of the store and decides to take a bold step to secure its success. But when tragedy strikes close to home, he is forced to confront his own mortality and what his legacy will be. As the season draws to a close, the fate of the store hangs in the balance, and everyone's lives are thrown into turmoil.
