My First Place is a reality TV show that follows first-time homebuyers as they navigate the ups and downs of the buying process. In season 1, episode 11, titled "Den Gets Zen," we meet Den, a young professional who is ready to purchase his first home in Chicago.

The episode begins with Den meeting with real estate agent, Dominic, to discuss his wish list for his new home. Den is looking for a one-bedroom condo in a pet-friendly building that has a gym and a pool. He also wants to be in a neighborhood with a good nightlife and within his budget of $200,000.

Dominic takes Den to see three different properties. The first is a one-bedroom condo in the city's West Loop neighborhood that is priced at $199,900. The condo is located in a newer building that has a gym, pool and a rooftop deck. Den likes the place but is put off by the property taxes which he is told will be around $4,000 a year.

The second property they look at is a one-bedroom condo in the South Loop neighborhood that is priced at $185,000. The condo is a bit smaller than the one in the West Loop, and the building doesn't have a pool. However, the property taxes are much lower, which is a plus for Den.

The final property they view is a one-bedroom loft in River North priced at $204,900. The property is in an older building, which gives it some character, but it doesn't have a gym or a pool. However, it is located in a great neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants.

After touring all three properties, Den decides to put in an offer on the condo in the South Loop neighborhood. He likes the lower property tax and the proximity to public transportation. Dominic helps him put in an offer of $182,000, which is accepted by the seller.

Den then meets with a mortgage broker to secure financing for his new home. He opts for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage with a 4.5% interest rate. He puts down 20% of the purchase price as a down payment, which is $36,400.

The next step for Den is the home inspection. He hires an inspector who spends several hours going over the property to make sure everything is in working order. The inspector finds a few minor issues, such as a leak under the sink and a loose handrail on the stairs, but nothing major.

Den is then given a week to decide if he wants to move forward with the purchase, back out due to the home inspection results, or renegotiate with the seller. After contemplating his options, Den decides to move forward with the purchase.

In the last part of the episode, Den closes on the property and gets the keys to his new home. He is excited to move in and start decorating. He hires an interior designer to help him transform the space into his own oasis. He also starts shopping for furniture and decor to complete the look.

Overall, My First Place season 1, episode 11, "Den Gets Zen," is an engaging and informative episode that gives viewers a glimpse into the home-buying process through the eyes of a first-time buyer. It shows the ups and downs of purchasing a home, from finding the perfect property to dealing with issues that come up during the home inspection.
