Joel and the bots are back with another episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000! In this thirteenth episode of season one, they're watching Women of the Prehistoric Planet, a 1966 sci-fi film.
The movie follows a group of astronauts who are on a journey to find a new planet for humans to inhabit. They land on a planet called Prehistoric Earth, where they encounter a tribe of women who are the only survivors of their people. These women are being threatened by deadly creatures that inhabit the planet, and the astronauts must try to save them and find a way back home.
As always, Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow T. Robot provide hilarious commentary throughout the film. They crack jokes about the cheesy special effects, the overacting of the cast, and the questionable decisions made by the characters.
In one memorable moment, Joel and the bots riff on a scene where the astronauts are walking through a dark cave. They joke about how it looks like they're just walking through a cardboard box with a flashlight, and question why they didn't bring any actual equipment for exploring a new planet.
Another funny moment comes when the astronauts first encounter the tribe of women. The women are wearing what can only be described as caveman bikinis, and the MST3K crew can't help but make fun of the ridiculous outfits. They also poke fun at the fact that the women speak perfect English, despite living on a completely different planet.
Overall, Women of the Prehistoric Planet provides plenty of fodder for Joel and the bots to riff on. Fans of the show will definitely enjoy this episode, and newcomers will quickly understand why MST3K has become such a beloved cult classic. So grab some popcorn and settle in for some non-stop laughs!
