Greatest Tank Battles is a military documentary series that highlights and profiles some of the more fantastic battles in the history of warfare. It is filled with a wealth of information about these great military machines and the battlegrounds where they went head to head. Each episode of the series weaves narration, archival footage, vintage photographs, interviews, expert commentary and 3D CGI computer simulated graphics to tell the story behind the equipment and the battle itself. There are 20 episodes of the series to date and each one focused on one particular battle situation. A lot of the episodes were centered around battles that took place during World War II in the 1940's but there are also other shows that take place as recently as 1991 and some are from the early days of military technology in the early 1900's. The show's debut episode focused on The Battle of 73 Easting. This battle took place during the Gulf War. It presents the story of the American 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment battled not only Iraq's royal guard but also terrible field conditions and a blinding sandstorm. Another notable episode focused on The Battle of Normandy. This is the very historically noted story of the allied invasion on the beaches of France. The focus is on the 2nd Canadian Armored Brigade fighting to make it past the shores against the cold blooded German brigade. The debut episode of season 2 presented one of the most important developments in the history of war, from 1916. This was when the British unveiled the new mobile weapon that was the first tank. Another notable episode from season 2 told the tale behind the 1944 Battle for the Baltics, when the Russians chase the Nazi forces through the Baltic States. Other great battles to be profiled in this informational series were The Battle of France, The Battle of the Bulge, The Battle of El Alamein, The Battle of Stalingrad, The Battle of Tunisia and The Battle of Arracourt.
