Each episode features how the soldiers attend special schools designed to prepare them for very specific military units. For example, featured units include the Army Rangers, Marine Snipers, Navy Seals and the Air Force Pararescuers. When candidates arrive, they just immediately endure a number of grueling military exercises. The focus is to test each candidate's physical and mental ability to handle all of the school's training demands. The ones who survive are expected to get through even more challenging exercises that prepare them for the dangers and rigors they are expected to face while in the midst of combat. Some of the soldiers resign before completing the various extreme training measures, while others are eliminated. Soldiers also participate in many orchestrated combat situations that are designed to test fighting and leadership skills. The few surviving members must pass all of their course in order to earn the coveted place among the Special Forces units.
