NANBAKA Season 1 Episode 7 It's a Surprisingly Sad Story

In episode 7 of the first season of NANBAKA, entitled "It's a Surprisingly Sad Story," viewers are introduced to a new character named Hitoshi Sugoroku. Sugoroku is a former inmate of Nanba prison who was released a few years ago, but has returned to the prison for a special reason. He seeks to speak to Jyugo, one of the main protagonists who is currently incarcerated in Nanba prison.

As Jyugo and Sugoroku speak, viewers learn more about Sugoroku's past and why he has come back to the prison. It is revealed that Sugoroku was in prison for many years, and during that time he was part of a close-knit group of inmates who all worked together to try and escape. Despite their best efforts, however, they were never able to successfully break out of the prison.

Eventually, the group of friends was separated when some of them were transferred to different facilities. Sugoroku was eventually released, but he found it difficult to adjust to life outside of prison. He struggled to find work and was eventually homeless, turning to alcohol as a means of coping with his troubles.

After some time, Sugoroku heard that one of his former friends from the prison had died, and he decided to return to Nanba to pay his respects. He arrives at the prison dressed in mourning attire and explains his story to Jyugo. He then reveals that he has brought something with him to give to his deceased friend in the afterlife – a homemade cake.

Jyugo is initially skeptical of Sugoroku's story, but as the two continue to talk and spend time together, Jyugo begins to see that Sugoroku is telling the truth. He agrees to help Sugoroku deliver the cake to his friend's grave, and the two set off on a mission to sneak out of the prison undetected.

As Jyugo and Sugoroku attempt to escape, they encounter various obstacles and challenges, including a group of guards who are suspicious of their behavior. Despite these challenges, the two eventually make it to the cemetery and are able to deliver the cake to Sugoroku's friend's grave.

After they return to the prison, Jyugo realizes that the story Sugoroku told him was not only true, but also incredibly sad. He is struck by the fact that even though Sugoroku had been released from prison, he was still deeply affected by his time there and by the loss of his friend.

The episode ends with Jyugo reflecting on the lessons he has learned from Sugoroku's story, and viewers are left to contemplate the powerful message of the episode – that even in the darkest of places, there can still be hope and humanity.
