The television series entitled Ocean Girl is set in the future and centers on the life and adventures of a mysterious young girl known as Neri. Neri, who is the main protagonist of the series, lives on an isolated island all by herself, and the only people she is close to are members of a research team called ORCA. ORCA researchers live under the sea where they carry out their findings. Neri likes them very much and sometimes joins them in their adventurous trips in water. She loves water so much and has a special ability that permits her to swim and stay under water for long hours. The super-human lungs which she possesses enables her do all these with ease. Neri has a fear of human beings since she does not get to see them all the time. One day she comes across two guys Jason and Brett also known as the Bates brothers. A strange friendship develops between the three of them but Neri does not tell them she is afraid of them since they are humans. Jason and Brett are members of the ORCA research team so they also live underwater with their mother who wants to study the language of whales as well as other colleagues. The series then flashes back to a scene which explains how Neri came to Earth. After the death of her father, she boarded a spaceship and came to earth to be able to start life all over again. Her only companion at the time was a disadvantaged whale that had a hump on its back. She loved the whale so much and named it Charley. She spent so much time with it that she started understanding whale language and after some time was able to communicate with it properly. The series then switches back to Neri and the Bates brothers as they take her to the ORCA resaerch site. She meets Dr Bates and starts teaching her whale language. Shortly after, another research team comes to the area to do their findings about Neri's spaceship. The Bates brothers decide to keep Neri safe and protect her from the other researchers. At the end, Neri finds her lone sister, Mara, and the two reunite happily.
