Thunderstone is an Australian family science-fiction series which tells the story of Noah Daniels. He and other survivors live underground after the Earth was devastated by a comet crashing into the planet. Because all life was destroyed above ground the remaining human beings are educated through holodecks, teaching them about the extinct life that once flourished on the surface. Noah is shot through time into the future due to his own work on the holodeck, and transported to a world where a group of children living in a place called Haven are fighting off an enemy known as Tao. Tao and his militant group seek control of Thunderstone, a resource with varying and powerful uses. The series was intended as a childrens television show, created and produced by Jonathan M. Shiff. It was originally aired for Network Ten but also ran on ABC kids. The entirety of its 52 episodes were broadcast from February, 1999 to January of 2000. Though the first season aired a total of 26 episodes, the second and third season only released 13 in each. The first season of Thunderstone focuses on Noah, as he travels back and forth through time obtaining extinct animals from the past to inhabit the lands in the future. Most of the episodes take place in Haven, however he does travel into the past before the comet strikes as well as into his own time-line throughout the show. Noah, who is played by Jeffrey Walker, is confronted by the Shadow Master. Realizing that the Shadow Master plans to become immortal through the use of Thunderstone, Noah and his friends work to stop him. Jeffery Walker is also known for his role in Ocean Girl, a series created by Jonathan M. Shiff Productions as well. Many of the locations, sets and even vehicles were reminiscent of Mad Max. Jonathan M. Shiff also opted for use of lives animals over computer generated creatures.
