Piper Chapman, a young woman in her thirties, seems to have it all — a supportive fiance, a loving family and a successful career. But her world is turned upside down when she must serve time in federal prison for a crime she committed 10 years ago. In the tenth episode of Orange is the New Black's first season, titled "Bora Bora Bora," Piper is sent to SHU (Special Housing Unit) after taking the fall for Pennsatucky's death.

As Piper is escorted to SHU, the inmates she passes tell her "good luck" and "we'll miss you." Once she arrives, she is put in a small cell with a toilet and a small bed. Piper quickly becomes restless and bored, and starts to hallucinate. She sees flashes of memories from her life before prison, but they are distorted and jumbled.

Meanwhile, the other inmates are dealing with their own issues. Sophia, the prison's resident hairstylist, is having trouble with her son, who is being bullied at school because of her incarceration. She tries to reach out to her ex-wife, but their conversation turns sour, with Sophia's wife insisting she was always the "man" in the relationship.

Daya, one of the youngest inmates, is still reeling from the revelation that her mother, Aleida, had an affair with Daya's boyfriend. Daya confides in a counselor, who encourages her to write her feelings down in a letter to her mother. But Daya finds it difficult to articulate her emotions, and ends up scribbling a few disjointed thoughts on a piece of paper.

Back in SHU, Piper is becoming increasingly agitated. She tries to communicate with the guard who brings her meals, but he ignores her. She begins to feel as though she is losing her mind, and attempts to escape by using the light fixture in her cell to bang on the walls. But the guard catches her, and punishes her by taking away her bedding.

As Piper shivers on the bare mattress, she starts to think about her relationship with Larry, her fiance. She realizes that she hasn't been fair to him, and that he deserves better than her. In a moment of clarity, she decides to end their engagement.

The episode ends with Piper being released from SHU, and returning to her cell block. She apologizes to Alex, her ex-girlfriend, for blaming her for Pennsatucky's death. Alex accepts her apology, and the two seem to be on better terms. The episode closes on a somber note, with Piper alone in her bunk, realizing the full weight of the consequences of her actions.

"Bora Bora Bora" is a powerful episode that delves into the emotional turmoil of incarceration. It highlights the isolation that comes with being in SHU, and the toll it takes on a person's mental health. The show also explores the complex relationships between inmates, and the difficult choices they must make to survive in a harsh and unforgiving environment. Overall, it is a poignant and thought-provoking installment that leaves a lasting impression on viewers.
