Peppa Pig and family were first introduced in the United Kingdom and have since been gaining popularity and young fans in America. It is an animated show that follows the everyday family life and activities of Peppa Pig, her younger brother George, Mama Pig, Daddy Pig, and her many animal friends. It is geared toward toddler and preschool age children, but would even be enjoyable for early elementary age children as well. Each episode focuses on a different activity they do or challenge that Peppa Pig or one of the other characters face. The show has a very positive portrayal of life. Even when challenges or conflicts arise, the characters manage to deal with them in a fun and hilarious way. Each episode is short, lasting only about five minutes. Since the show is geared toward very young children, this is a perfect amount of time. Many of the episodes introduce ideas that may be novel to a young audience, such as blowing bubbles, building time capsules, and recycling. Although the show is not marketed as an educational series, that's not to say there is nothing to learn from Peppa Pig and her friends and family.
