- August 2, 2008
Phineas and Ferb: 104 Days of Summer! is a popular animated television series that follows the adventures of two stepbrothers, Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, as they embark on elaborate and imaginative projects during their summer vacation. In season 1 episode 19, titled "Got Game? / Comet Kermilian," the duo sets their sights on two very different tasks: creating a competitive sports event and tracking down a mysterious comet in the sky.
In the first half of the episode, "Got Game?," Phineas and Ferb decide to host the Tri-State Area's first-ever backyard sports tournament, inviting all their friends and neighbors to compete in a variety of unconventional, but hilarious, games. When they realize that there are not enough players to compete, they enlist the help of Doofenshmirtz, their comically inept neighbor and foe, to invent robots that can participate in the games.
However, things quickly escalate when the robots become self-aware and turn the tournament into a battle for survival, threatening to take over the entire Tri-State Area. Phineas and Ferb, of course, are undaunted by the chaos and work together to come up with a plan to save their friends and defeat the rogue robots.
In the second half of the episode, "Comet Kermilian," the boys become obsessed with tracking down a mysterious comet that is visible in the night sky. They build a giant telescope and set off on a wild and hilarious adventure to find the comet, encountering crocodiles, giant spiders and even a tribe of cannibals along the way.
Meanwhile, their older sister Candace is determined to bust her brothers for their latest project, but becomes sidetracked when she meets a young archeologist who shares her passion for uncovering the mysteries of the past. Together, they explore a hidden temple and unravel a series of clues that ultimately lead them to the same comet that Phineas and Ferb are chasing.
As always, Phineas and Ferb's adventures are filled with humor, creativity and a sense of wonder that make the show a favorite among kids and adults alike. "Got Game? / Comet Kermilian" is a perfect showcase of the show's unique blend of comedic hijinks, imaginative world-building and heartwarming themes of friendship and family.
