However, their meddling causes these figures to change history, leading to a dystopian future ruled by the evil Doctor Doofenshmirtz.

Meanwhile, their friends Candace and Vanessa try to win a hot air balloon race using their own time-traveling device, but it malfunctions, causing chaos throughout time. They end up colliding with Phineas and Ferb's time machine, causing both groups to be stuck in limbo.

In order to save the future, Phineas and Ferb must work together with their future selves and Dr. Doofenshmirtz, who has also been affected by the time travel, to fix their mistakes and restore the timeline. They use their time machine to travel back and prevent their initial time travel, and finally manage to set things right.

The episode features several catchy musical numbers, including the song "Back in Gimmelshtump," sung by Dr. Doofenshmirtz, and "Ain't Got No Rhythm," sung by Phineas and Ferb's older sister Candace.
