Ross Poldark returns home after fighting in the American Revolutionary War to find his father dead and his inheritance in ruins. He decides to work on restoring his family's land and mine in Cornwall to its former glory with the help of his former servant, Jud. Ross also meets a young girl named Demelza who he takes under his wing and begins to develop feelings for. Meanwhile, his former love interest, Elizabeth, is now engaged to his cousin, Francis, causing tension and drama within the family. Ross must navigate these relationships and the challenges of reviving his family's estate in order to secure his future and legacy.
