Pompeii - The Last Day is a dramatized documentary about the last day of the Roman city Pompeii before the city and its inhabitants were destroyed by Mount Vesuvius. The documentary tells the story using two known historical figures, as well as a handful of characters representing people who would have lived in the city. The documentary relies on sources such as the eye witness account of Pliny the Younger, published historical research, and recent discoveries by volcanologists.

The documentary tries to recount the last days of the people of Pompeii and Herculean, whose inhabitants were also killed by the volcano's eruption. The deaths are based on those of the family of Julius Polybius and the discovery of the body of a pregnant woman and a man found in that home, the cast of a man found in a fetal position, and the body of a bejeweled lady found in the gladiator's barracks. The documentary tries to capture what these people must have felt as they were trapped by nature's fury.
