Ep 2. Dueling Waterslides

Two Texas families are in for a treat on this episode of Pool Kings. They have contacted Brian and Paul's company to build them pools that would be a hit with both kids and adults. And the builders have taken the challenge in stride.

The clients have vast outdoor playgrounds and lots of space, and the builders aim to create an extravagant, one-of-a-kind oasis that will be a conversation starter for ages to come. But there's something else that the two families have agreed upon: the pools will be connected by a double slide. Yes, a double slide that will send swimmers careening down at breakneck speeds into their pools.

The pool builders get to work quickly and don't waste any time in putting up the necessary framework. They begin with the larger of the two pools, which is situated next to the main house. The pool is around 44 feet long and has ample space for lounging. But the real star of the show is the water feature, which comprises a series of cascading waterfalls that culminate in a peaceful rock island.

The second pool is situated at the far end of the property, and the pool builders have their work cut out for them since they have to excavate nearly 20 feet to create a level surface. This pool is smaller than the first, but it's deeper, measuring around six feet. Here, the builders get creative and install a swim-up bar complete with bar stools, a sunken ice bucket, and a fridge.

The two pools are connected by two waterslides that run parallel to each other. These are no ordinary waterslides - they are custom-made and intricately designed to make the journey from one pool to the other more exciting than the destination. The builders complete the slides with water jets and various contours to provide a thrilling ride.

While designing the slides, the builders think of everything, including the weight distribution and the curvature of the slides. After much contemplation, they decide to make the slides symmetric to each other, providing equal thrills to those descending down them. Each slide is fitted with high-powered jets, and as the riders approach the other end, more powerful jets send them smoothly into the other pool.

The pool builders take great care in ensuring the safety and comfort of all who will be using these slides. They install retractable stairs to make it easy to climb up to the slide's starting point and install LED lighting to light up the slides at night.

Throughout the build, the builders and clients work closely together to ensure that everything meets everyone's expectations. The clients want their pools to be unique and visually appealing, and the builders deliver on this request with a few surprises. They use natural elements such as rocks, boulders, and pebbles to give the pools an earthy, rustic vibe that blends in effortlessly with the surroundings.
