Set in County Jail, this series takes a hard-hitting and emotionally charged look at the realities of pregnant women behind bars. In the first episode, titled "Welcome to County," viewers are introduced to several women who are all in different stages of pregnancy and facing different circumstances.

The episode opens with an inmate by the name of Heather, who is 28 weeks pregnant with her first child. She is serving an 18-month sentence for drug-related offenses. Heather admits that she has struggled with addiction for most of her life, and that being in jail has helped her to get sober. However, she is worried about what will happen to her baby when she gives birth. The episode follows Heather as she attends a prenatal check-up with the jail's medical team and meets with a social worker to discuss her options for placing her baby up for adoption.

Another inmate, named Alicia, is introduced. She is 34 weeks pregnant and due to give birth any day. Alicia is serving a 12-year sentence for armed robbery. She is separated from her two older children and worried about how she will bond with her new baby while behind bars. The episode follows Alicia as she attends birthing classes and speaks with a counselor about her feelings of guilt and remorse over missing her other children's lives.

The show also features a group of women who are participating in a pilot program that allows them to keep their babies with them in jail. The program is only available to women who are serving short sentences for non-violent offenses and who meet certain other criteria. One of the women in the program, named Jasmine, is due to give birth in a few weeks. She is excited about the program, but also worried about how she will provide for her baby once she is released from jail.

Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse of what life is like for pregnant women in jail. They see the cramped cell blocks, the limited access to medical care, and the loneliness and isolation that comes with being separated from loved ones. They also see the relationships that form between the women, with some bonding over their shared experiences and others struggling to get along.

Overall, "Welcome to County" does an excellent job of setting the stage for the rest of the series. It introduces viewers to a diverse group of women who are all facing unique challenges related to their pregnancies and their time in jail. The episode is emotionally charged and at times difficult to watch, but it is also filled with moments of hope and resilience. Despite the difficult circumstances they are facing, many of the women in the show are determined to make the best of their situations and provide their babies with a better life.
