Ep 1. Crime Coefficient

Throughout the episode, Akane and Kogami investigate the murders, but encounter several obstacles along the way. The victims are all found hanging from metal poles, with their bodies mutilated in various ways. As they delve deeper into the case, they discover that the killer has been using a special drug to avoid detection by the Sibyl System. This drug, called 'Designer Drugs,' is capable of altering a person's psychological state without them being aware of it.

The investigation leads Akane and Kogami to a secluded area outside of Tokyo, where they discover a facility that produces Designer Drugs. They encounter the mastermind behind the drug operation, who reveals that he has been creating Designer Drugs to change the way people behave and think. Akane and Kogami apprehend him and rescue the hostages, but not without some difficulty.

The first episode of PSYCHO-PASS: Extended Edition season 1 lays out the foundation for the series, introducing viewers to a world where crime is prevented before it even happens. The show explores the concept of free will versus determinism, as the characters struggle with the idea of being controlled by the Sibyl System.
