In the season 1 episode 3 of PSYCHO-PASS: Extended Edition titled "Rearing Conventions," the story follows Inspector Shinya Kogami and the members of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division as they investigate a series of gruesome murders committed by a man known as the "Criminal Patissier." The Criminal Patissier, who has been dubbed as such due to the fact that he leaves behind elaborate and exquisitely crafted pastries at the crime scenes, has been terrorizing the city for weeks, with no clear motive or pattern to his crimes.

As the team delves deeper into the case, they begin to uncover a disturbing web of conspiracy and corruption within the city's elite circles. The Criminal Patissier, it turns out, is in fact a highly skilled chef who had been employed by one of these elite families, and who had been driven to his heinous crimes due to a combination of brutal childhood trauma and a desire for revenge against those who had wronged him.

As the team races against time to unravel the mystery and stop the Criminal Patissier before he can strike again, they are faced with a number of ethical and moral dilemmas. Should they prioritize their duty to catch the criminal, or their obligation to protect the innocents who may become his next target? And what, if anything, can they do to prevent similar tragedies in the future?

Throughout the episode, viewers are treated to intense action sequences, suspenseful plot twists, and a richly developed world of characters and relationships. From the stoic and determined Kogami, to the passionate and fiery Akane Tsunemori, to the enigmatic and complex enforcers who work alongside them, each member of the team brings a unique perspective and personality to the table, making for a truly compelling viewing experience.
