As the seventh season of Ray Donovan continues, episode six titled 'Inside Guy' brings a series of surprising moments. The storyline revolves around Ray's next move in his mission to help his father, Mickey (Jon Voight), escape prison. With Frank (Michael Gaston) acting as a roadblock, Ray (Liev Schreiber) needs to figure out how he can get Mickey out of prison. The episode gets heated as Ray turns to Naylor (Leland Orser) for help, a man he never thought he would have to ask for assistance.

The episode starts with Ray seeking out Naylor, a man known for his shady dealings. Surprising even himself, Ray offers Naylor a massive wad of cash and, in exchange, convinces him to help in getting Mickey out of jail. However, nothing in the world of Ray Donovan is that simple, and the exchange soon gets complicated.

Meanwhile, Smitty (Graham Rogers) is on a different mission, infiltrating a group of rebellious youngsters, but what he finds when he gets there is not what he had expected. He eventually discovers crucial information related to Ray's mission, information that could change the game if he chooses to share it with Ray at this point.

Terry (Eddie Marsan) is struggling with the emotional fallout of his affair with Maureen (Tara Buck). As he questions his own sanity, he turns to Ray for help, but the ensuing conversation raises more questions than it answers.

Bunchy (Dash Mihok), on the other hand, is trailing Jimmy Hoffa, Jr (Matt Malloy) and ends up with a job offer that might be just the opportunity he needed to get back on his feet.

The episode is a masterclass in suspense and tension, as the various moving parts of the story fit together like a puzzle. The standout performance comes from Leland Orser, whose Naylor is a frenzied portrayal of greed and corruption, a character that the audience can't help but be transfixed by.

As the episode progresses, the stakes are raised ever higher, and it becomes increasingly clear that the plan to get Mickey out of prison will be anything but straightforward. As Ray grapples with the various elements at play, it becomes increasingly apparent that he needs to trust his instincts and remember that he is Ray Donovan, the ultimate "fixer" who can get out of any situation.

Despite the intense emotional moments, the episode never loses its sense of humor. Some of the lines will have you laughing out loud, giving a reprieve from the relentless suspense.

The show's creators excel at creating a world that is both gritty and glamorous, and Inside Guy showcases this at its best, with captivating cinematography and a seamless integration of the surroundings, making Los Angeles almost a character in its own right.

Overall, Inside Guy is an episode that raises the bar for the rest of the season. As Ray's plan to save his father takes shape, the audience is left on the edge of their seat, with no idea what might happen next. The episode is a must-watch for anyone who loves tense drama, complex characters, and a good ole heist story.
