In this episode of Return to Amish season 3, titled "Dental Dilemma," we join the cast members as they continue to navigate their new lives away from the Amish community. With each passing day, they are faced with new challenges and decisions that they have never encountered before.
As we begin, we catch up with Mary, who is dealing with a significant dental issue that requires surgery to fix. However, the cost of the procedure is not covered by her insurance, which is causing her a great deal of stress and anxiety. Additionally, Mary is worried about undergoing surgery, as she has never had any major medical procedures before, and the thought of being under anesthesia is terrifying to her.
Meanwhile, Sabrina is struggling to balance her desire to be a good mother to her daughter, Oakley, with the demands of her new job. She is eager to make a good impression and prove herself to her boss, but she is finding it difficult to find the time and energy to do everything she needs to do. Sabrina also opens up about her past struggles with addiction, and how she is working hard to stay clean and sober for the sake of her daughter.
Later in the episode, we catch up with Andrew, who is dealing with his own dental issues. Unlike Mary, however, Andrew is determined to forego surgery if at all possible, and instead seeks out alternative treatments that are more in line with his Amish beliefs. He meets with a local healer who recommends a variety of natural remedies and practices to try and heal his teeth, from herbal remedies to special diets.
Finally, we check in with Jeremiah, who has joined a construction crew and is learning new skills on the job every day. Despite some initial skepticism from his co-workers about his lack of experience, Jeremiah is determined to prove himself and become a valuable member of the team. He also opens up about his ongoing struggles with his family, particularly his mother, who he feels has never fully accepted his decision to leave the Amish community.
Throughout the episode, we see the cast members grappling with the challenges and opportunities that come with their new lives outside of the Amish community. They are all trying to find their own way in the world, which often means making difficult choices and facing their fears head-on. Ultimately, "Dental Dilemma" offers a touching and thought-provoking look at the struggles and joys of leaving behind one way of life and embarking on a new path.
