The episode opens with Rick Stein exploring the beautiful walled city of Dubrovnik, known as the Pearl of the Adriatic. Rick delves into its rich history and tries out some of the local delicacies.

The viewers are then taken aboard a traditional boat that takes them along the Dalmatian Coastline, from Dubrovnik to Split. The clear blue waters contrasted by the imposing mountains and rocky cliffs make for an awe-inspiring sight for viewers. The journey also offers a glimpse into the fishing traditions of the region.

In Split, Rick meets up with a fisherman who takes him out to the waters off Split, where they catch sardines and cuttlefish. Later Rick visits a market in Split, where he meets a group of stallholders and tries some of their specialties. He tastes stuffed peppers, a traditional dish of the region, which is made with minced meat, rice, and a unique blend of spices.

From Split, Rick takes a ferry to the island of Hvar, which is known for its mesmerizing beauty. Here, he meets some farmers who handpick the olives and make their own olive oil. He also visits a local vineyard that produces one of the best wines in the region. The island also offers some spectacular beaches and views, and Rick enjoys a traditional Croatian meal at one of the local restaurants.

In the latter half of the episode, Rick travels inland to the town of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The town is famous for its bridge, which was destroyed during the Balkan war but was rebuilt and restored in 2004. Mostar also offers some unique cuisine, and Rick samples Ćevapi, a type of grilled meat served in bread, and Burek, a flaky pastry filled with cheese, spinach, or meat.

Rick ends his journey by visiting a local family who still practice an ancient method of cheese-making. They make their cheese from a mixture of goat's and sheep's milk and then dry it in a cave. The cheese has a unique texture and taste that Rick finds irresistible.
