In the eighth season of Roger Raglin Outdoors, veteran hunter, and host, Roger Raglin embarks on exciting hunting expeditions across the United States. In episode 4, Mississippi Whitetail, Raglin takes his hunting skills to the southern state of Mississippi, where he meets up with a local guide and experienced hunter, Guy Starkey.
The episode begins with Roger and Guy discussing their plans for hunting whitetails in the dense and swampy terrain of Mississippi. The pair talk about their hunting strategy and Roger explains how he plans to use the wind to his advantage to get as close to the deer as possible.
As they set out early in the morning on their hunting expedition, the pair are confronted with the challenges of hunting in swampy and wet terrain. Roger uses his extensive knowledge of the area to navigate through the flooded forests, and they both keep a keen eye out for whitetail deer along the way.
After a few hours of hunting, the pair splits up to increase their chances of spotting a deer. Roger sets off on his own, taking a stealthy approach, moving slowly and quietly through the brush. He uses his caller to attract any nearby bucks, but after a while, he decides to switch things up and go after does instead.
Guy, on the other hand, sets up in a tree stand to wait for any deer that may come by. As the hours pass by, Guy remains patient and vigilant, making the most of his time in the stand.
As evening approaches, Roger and Guy reconvene and share their stories of the day. While neither of them has spotted a deer yet, they remain determined to continue their search. They decide to split up again and continue their search for whitetail deer early the next morning.
On the second day of their hunting expedition, Roger and Guy try a new approach to calling in nearby deer. They use a fawn bleat call to seek out mama does and any nearby bucks. The tactic proves successful when Guy spots a small group of does in the distance.
Roger sees this as an opportunity to get closer to the deer to take a shot. He decides to use his cover scent and makes a low crawl through the brush, getting as close as possible without being detected. He finally gets within range and makes a clean shot on a beautiful Mississippi whitetail buck.
The episode ends with Roger and Guy celebrating their successful hunt and reflecting on their time in Mississippi. Roger shares his gratitude for the experience and the opportunity to hunt in such beautiful and diverse terrain.
Mississippi Whitetail is a thrilling episode filled with exciting hunting expeditions, stunning scenery, and the success of a seasoned hunter and his local guide. This episode is a must-see for any hunting enthusiast or wildlife lover.
