Salvage Hunters is a popular reality TV show in the United Kingdom that follows the adventures of Drew Pritchard, an antiques expert and salvage dealer, as he travels across the country in search of hidden treasures. In the first episode of season 9, titled "Shilstone," Drew and his team head to Devon to visit a stunning Elizabethan manor house with a fascinating history.

Shilstone is a Grade I listed building that was built in the early 17th century by the Carew family, who were prominent members of the Devonshire gentry. Over the years, the house has seen many changes and additions, including a Georgian facade which was added in the 18th century. Today, the house is owned by a private family who have spent years renovating it to its former glory.

Drew's mission in this episode is to explore the treasures that lie within Shilstone and to negotiate with the owners to purchase any pieces that catch his eye. He is accompanied by his two trusted assistants, Tee and Alex, who help him navigate the various rooms of the house and provide their expert opinions on the various antiques and collectibles that they come across.

The first object that catches Drew's eye is a set of carved oak panels that he believes may have come from a Jacobean staircase. He is immediately drawn to the intricate carvings and the beautiful patina of the wood, and begins to negotiate with the owners to purchase them.

Next, Drew heads to the library of the house, where he comes across a stunning set of 18th-century mahogany bookcases. The bookcases are in near-perfect condition, and Drew is convinced that he can sell them for a tidy profit. However, the owners are understandably reluctant to part with such a prized possession, and Drew must use all of his charm and negotiating skills to persuade them to sell.

Throughout the episode, Drew and his team explore the many rooms of Shilstone, discovering hidden treasures and unique pieces of history at every turn. From antique grandfather clocks to rare pottery, there is something for everyone in this episode.

One of the standout pieces of the episode is a beautiful Regency-period daybed that Drew discovers in a secluded corner of the house. The daybed is in remarkable condition, with its original upholstery still intact, and Drew is determined to acquire it for his own collection.

As the episode draws to a close, Drew reflects on his adventure at Shilstone, and the many wonderful pieces that he has managed to acquire. He is especially pleased with the Jacobean oak panels, which he believes will be a real talking point in his antiques showroom.

Overall, Salvage Hunters season 9 episode 1 is a fascinating glimpse into the world of antique collecting and salvage dealing. With its stunning location, interesting history, and amazing objects, Shilstone is the perfect backdrop for Drew's latest adventure, and his expert eye and negotiating skills ensure that he comes away with some fantastic finds.
