Lena and Martin's relationship hits a rocky patch when their children have conflicting views on whether or not they should attend church, leading them to contemplate whether or not they are on the same page when it comes to parenting and their overall values as a family. Meanwhile, Maya tries to reconnect with an old friend, but her reliance on party favors to do so puts her motherly instincts to the test. Elsewhere, Martin and Lena run into Lena's ex-boyfriend, Cam, and his wife, and the tension between them leads to a difficult decision about who to invite to their upcoming 40th birthday party.
