Squidbillies season 12 episode 7, Blue Lives Battered, follows the misadventures of the Cuyler family - Early, Rusty, Granny, and Lil - who are all anthropomorphic squids living in the rural hills of Georgia. In this episode, Early is excited to be the latest addition to the police force and even gets his own police cruiser. The rest of the family is apprehensive, as they know Early's history of criminal behavior and questionable decision-making skills.

As Early begins his first day on the job, he quickly realizes that being a cop is harder than it looks. He struggles to follow rules and procedures, often using excessive force to apprehend suspects. This results in several complaints from the community, with residents accusing him of police brutality. Early's supervisor, Sheriff, warns him that he needs to tone down his aggression before he causes any serious harm.

Despite these warnings, Early continues to use force to enforce the law. In one scene, he chases down a group of teenagers who are spray painting graffiti on the walls of a building. Instead of using non-violent methods to apprehend them, he crashes his cruiser into the group, causing them to scatter. This results in a complaint from one of the teenager's parents, who accuses Early of assaulting their child.

As the episode progresses, it becomes clear that Early's behavior is not acceptable. His family becomes increasingly concerned and Granny takes it upon herself to try and talk some sense into him. She tells him that the police are meant to protect and serve, not to terrorize the community.

Despite her words of wisdom, Early continues with his unruly behavior. The climax of the episode occurs when Early is called to respond to a domestic dispute. He shows up at the house and finds a man yelling at his wife. Early immediately begins to use excessive force to subdue the man, even though the man was not being violent towards him. The woman calls the police and when they arrive, they find Early beating the man with his nightstick.

The episode ends with Early being suspended from the police force and facing charges of police brutality. His family is disappointed in him and he realizes that he needs to make some changes in his behavior. The episode is a commentary on police brutality and the use of excessive force in law enforcement. It shows how important it is for police officers to follow the rules and serve the community, rather than abusing their power.
