Detective Harry Clayton is back in the second season of Stan Lee's Lucky Man, and he's looking to change his luck. In the first episode of the season, "Luck Be a Lady," Clayton discovers that his luck has gotten worse since he lost the bracelet that gave him his powers. He's now living in a caravan park, trying to find a way to get back to his old life.
Meanwhile, a woman named Golding has been found dead in an airplane bathroom. The only clue is a card with the words "nothing in life is ever enough" written on it. Clayton is put in charge of the case, but it seems impossible to solve. The victim had no identification, and there's no record of her ever being on the flight.
Clayton starts to investigate, and soon discovers that Golding's death is connected to an underground gambling ring. He learns that Golding was one of the ring's high rollers, and that she was in deep debt. She had hoped that her luck would change, but instead she ended up dead.
Clayton meets with Eve, a woman who claims to know where his bracelet is. But she's not willing to simply give it back to him. Instead, she proposes a deal. She wants Clayton to help her with a robbery she's planning, promising that she will return the bracelet to him once the job is done. Clayton agrees, hoping that this will give him the chance to get back to his old life.
As Clayton and Eve plan the robbery, things start to get complicated. The target is a casino owned by a dangerous man named Blake. Clayton and Eve agree to include Golding's boyfriend in the job, but things go awry when the boyfriend is killed during the heist.
Clayton manages to get away, and returns to Eve with the bracelet. But instead of keeping her promise, Eve decides to keep the bracelet for herself. Clayton is left with nothing, and he's forced to flee the country to avoid prosecution for the robbery.
"Luck Be a Lady" is a thrilling start to the second season of Stan Lee's Lucky Man. It's a high-stakes game of luck and chance, with Clayton caught in the middle of a dangerous game. The episode sets up the season's major themes, including Clayton's struggle to get his bracelet back, and his quest to change his luck. Fans of the first season won't be disappointed, and newcomers will find themselves quickly drawn into the world of Lucky Man.
