Envoys is the second episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks season 1. The episode follows the lives of the lower deck crew members of the U.S.S. Cerritos as they deal with a diplomatic mission to a war-torn planet.
Mariner and Boimler are assigned to escort a Klingon named Korin to the planet below. They are initially excited about the prospect of working with a Klingon, but soon realize that Korin is not exactly the warrior they expected him to be. He is polite and reserved, and seems to have no interest in fighting.
Meanwhile, Tendi and Rutherford are tasked with setting up a new piece of equipment on the ship. They run into some technical difficulties and end up enlisting the help of the ship's resident cyborg, Lieutenant Commander Annorax. But when Rutherford discovers that Annorax has a hidden agenda, he is forced to take matters into his own hands.
Back on the planet, Mariner and Boimler are ambushed by a group of Orion pirates. They manage to fight them off, but are then approached by a group of Klingon warriors led by Korin's son, D'Vana. D'Vana is disappointed in his father's pacifist ways and challenges him to a duel.
As the duel begins, Mariner realizes that Korin is not as weak as he appears. He is an expert in the Bat'leth, and is able to hold his own against his son. But when the Orion pirates return, Mariner and Boimler must work with Korin and D'Vana to fight them off.
In the end, the crew successfully completes their mission and returns to the ship. Mariner and Boimler are impressed by Korin's fighting skills and come to appreciate his peaceful ways. Tendi and Rutherford also succeed in setting up the new equipment, but are left with a suspicion that Annorax may not be entirely trustworthy.
Overall, Envoys is a fun and action-packed episode that delves deeper into the personalities of the Lower Decks crew members. It explores themes of diplomacy, family, and honor, and adds another exciting chapter to the ongoing Star Trek saga.
