As the group travels across the country, they begin to learn more about the settlers' motivations and the reasons behind their journey. They encounter characters such as Alex Haley, Harriet Tubman, and many others, and learn about their incredible contributions to history. As they journey together, the Gems begin to see that their approach to life may not be the same as everyone else's, but that there is still common ground between them.

As the episode reaches its conclusion, the Gems arrive at the end of the settlers' journey, only to realize that what they thought was the end was just the beginning. They learn about the settlers' ongoing struggles as they try to establish themselves in a new world, and recognize that they still have much to learn about the human experience.

Overall, "Historical Fiction" is a touching episode that explores themes of empathy and understanding. Through their journey with the settlers, the Gems learn that even when we don't understand each other, there are always opportunities to learn and grow.
