Qingying is determined to get to the bottom of the murder case and free her friend, Wei Yingluo. She decides to go undercover as a maid to investigate the empress dowager's palace. Meanwhile, Wei Yingluo is taken to a torture chamber and questioned about her involvement in the murder. She refuses to confess and is subjected to brutal torture, leaving her in critical condition.

As the investigation continues, Qingying discovers a clue that leads her to suspect one of the concubines is the true culprit behind the murder. With the help of her ally, the loyal guard Fucha Fu Heng, Qingying gathers evidence to prove the concubine's guilt and expose her true motives.

At the same time, tensions rise within the palace as the empress dowager falls ill and the battle for the throne intensifies. The emperor's brother, Prince Jie, seeks to manipulate the situation to his advantage, while the ambitious Noble Lady Xia tries to win favor with the emperor.

Amidst the political turmoil, Qingying faces her own personal struggles as she grapples with her growing fondness for Fucha Fu Heng and the realization that her feelings may not be returned.
