Arthur's past criminal associations come back to haunt him in this episode of "Superior Donuts," entitled "Crime Time." When the donut shop is robbed at gunpoint, Franco mistakenly identifies an old acquaintance of Arthur's as the culprit. But Arthur insists on investigating further, despite the risk of exposing his own shady past.
Meanwhile, Maya tries to drum up business with a series of wacky and overly ambitious promotions, including a "$100 donut" and a "Pay What You Think It's Worth" sale. When Tush accidentally gives away $1,000 worth of merchandise, Maya must find a way to recoup the losses without resorting to more outrageous stunts.
As the investigation into the robbery heats up, Franco grows increasingly frustrated with Arthur's lack of trust in him. But a surprise twist in the case brings them closer together, as they team up to unmask the real culprit and clear Arthur's name.
Overall, "Crime Time" offers a good mix of humor, suspense, and character development. Fans of the show will enjoy seeing more of Arthur's backstory and learning about the ways in which his checkered past continues to impact his present. Maya's zany antics provide a nice contrast to the darker plotline, and there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments to be had. All in all, a solid episode that delivers on the show's promise of clever writing and quirky characters.
