Ep 5. Black To The Future

In "Supermansion" season 2 episode 5, named "Black To The Future," the members of the League of Freedom must travel back in time to the 1970s to stop an unhappy couple from detonating a bomb that would destroy half of Storm City. Led by Titanium Rex, the group takes on different alter egos including Cooch as a disco diva and Black Saturn as a smooth-talking smoothie salesman to uncover the couple's dastardly plans.

As the League travels back in time, they encounter major social issues of the era, including racism and sexism. While some members embrace the 70s fashion and style, others grapple with the dated and problematic norms of the time. This juxtaposition creates an opportunity for the characters to not only stop the couple and prevent disaster, but also reflect on their own biases and learn more about themselves.

However, time-traveling is never easy and the League encounters several obstacles including a surprise attack by an unexpected villain and a run-in with the past versions of themselves. The stakes continue to rise as the League races against time to save the city before it's too late.

Throughout the episode, "Black To The Future" balances humor and action with important commentary on historical and current social issues. The League of Freedom may be superheroes, but they are also flawed and complex individuals who must reckon with their own prejudices in order to be true heroes. This episode is a standout example of how Supermansion uses its absurd premise to deliver poignant and diverse storylines.
