Ep 4. The McCloud Family and The Griffin Family
- March 2, 2010
The McCloud Family has three children that are driving their parents to the brink of exhaustion. Mom, Emma, and Dad, Nick, are at their wits end trying to manage their unruly children. Their youngest daughter, six-year-old Molly, is a voracious tantrum thrower who dominates her parents with her constant meltdowns. Meanwhile, her older siblings, Jack and Grace, also exhibit challenging behavior, including back-talking and refusing to complete household chores. Can Supernanny Jo Frost help this family get back on track?
On the other hand, The Griffin Family consists of two sets of twins, and parents Lloyd and Susie struggle to keep up with their 4 young ones. The twins, Max and Tom, are school-age and prone to screeching outbursts and fights with their younger sisters, Zoe and Rachel. The toddlers themselves are the major concern – the family's home is a constant disaster zone, with toys scattered everywhere, and the little ones refuse to follow the rules.
As Supernanny enters both homes, she is keen to observe the parent-child dynamics. Quickly, she picks up on the McCloud's style of laissez-faire parenting; while the Griffins are struggling with imposing boundaries. Jo Frost encourages the McClouds to take a more authoritative parenting stance, advising them on how to use positive reinforcement to encourage their children to behave appropriately, and how to effectively tackle their persistent behavior problems.
For the Griffins, Supernanny suggests that they focus on consistency with routines and rules. She works with the parents to get their children to follow a more structured day, and helps them set up a reward system that encourages good behavior and promotes positive sibling relationships.
Overall, Supernanny Jo Frost provides both families with numerous tools to help them create a more harmonious home environment. From using time-out effectively to setting up a designated play area, Jo provides expert guidance that both parents can use immediately. With her guidance, the McCloud and Griffin families are able to make big changes that will benefit them for years to come.
