Ep 1. Episode 1

In the first episode of Survivors, a virus sweeps through the world, leaving only a handful of survivors in its wake. We follow several characters as they navigate this new world, trying to survive and find meaning in a world that's been turned upside down.

The episode begins with Abby, a doctor, waking up in her flat to find that something is wrong—her television doesn't work, and her phone is dead. When she steps outside, she finds that the world is strangely quiet and deserted. She heads to the hospital where she works, only to find chaos and confusion. Patients are dying left and right, and no one seems to know what's going on.

As Abby struggles to save lives, we're introduced to other characters also trying to survive the virus. There's Greg, a bureaucratic civil servant, who becomes the de facto leader of a group of survivors in a suburban house. Meanwhile, Al, a criminal on the run, finds himself in the same house after breaking in to steal food and supplies.

Over the course of the episode, we see how these characters and others—including a farmer named Tom and a wealthy couple named Anya and Peter—begin to form bonds and try to work together in order to stay alive. They scavenge for food and fuel, set up a makeshift radio to try to contact others who might still be out there, and try to make sense of the new world they find themselves in.

One of the most compelling aspects of Survivors is its depiction of the breakdown of society. As more and more people die, we see how quickly things can fall apart. Stores are looted and destroyed, infrastructure crumbles, and even the police and military seem powerless to stem the tide of destruction. The survivors find themselves living in a world without rules or structure, where their only concern is staying alive for another day.

As the episode comes to a close, each of the characters faces a difficult decision. Abby must decide whether to leave her hospital and join the other survivors, while Greg struggles with the responsibility of being in charge. Meanwhile, Al tries to decide whether to remain a criminal and fend for himself, or to work with the others.

Survivors is a tense and gripping drama that asks important questions about what it means to be human. In this new world, what kind of society are the survivors going to build? Will they work together and help each other, or will they turn on each other in desperation? And ultimately, what does it mean to be alive when everyone around you is dead? The first episode sets up a rich and complex world filled with fascinating characters and challenging dilemmas, and leaves us eagerly anticipating what comes next.
