Rodan (1956) was the first color kaiju film produced by Toho Studios. The film was directed by Ishirō Honda with SFX directed by Eiji Tsuburaya who were also responsible for creating the iconic Godzilla franchise.

In the movie, the discovery of an unusual rock in a mining operation leads to a series of strange events, including the emergence of giant insects and the arrival of a pair of giant Pteranodons called Rodan. As they devour everything in their path, the military is forced to intervene, but they are powerless against the unstoppable kaiju. As the disaster intensifies, two scientists work tirelessly to discover a way to stop the creatures before it's too late.
