In Taskmaster season 2 episode 5, entitled "There's strength in arches," Greg Davies, our friendly Taskmaster, guides five more comedians through a series of absurd and often ridiculous challenges. In this episode, the contestants are tasked with painting a picture of a horse while riding an actual horse, creating an outfit using just the contents of a vending machine, and constructing the tallest bridge they can using only balloons.
As always, the contestants' creativity and problem-solving skills are put to the test in each task, with some coming up with innovative solutions and others struggling to even get started. Watching the comedians try to paint while bouncing around on horseback is particularly amusing, with some opting to just let the horse do the "artistic" work and others attempting to hold onto the reins with one hand and the paintbrush with the other.
Later in the episode, the comedians are given an archery challenge, with a twist. They must shoot arrows at a series of targets, but each target has a different task attached to it, such as popping a balloon or hitting a target that's on fire. The final target requires them to hit a small target on a flying drone - needless to say, this proves to be quite challenging.
As always, the banter between Greg and his assistant, Alex Horne, is a highlight of the show. Alex is often the brunt of Greg's jokes, and the two have a hilarious back-and-forth throughout the episode. We also get to see more of the contestants' personalities and relationships with each other, with some forming alliances and others winding each other up.
One of the most memorable moments of the episode comes during a task that involves building a tower out of shoes. Comedian Joe Wilkinson hilariously tries to cheat by hiding a bunch of shoes in his pants, which leads to some very awkward moments when he tries to retrieve them.
Overall, "There's strength in arches" is another hilarious and entertaining episode of Taskmaster that showcases the creativity and comedic talents of its contestants. Whether you're a fan of the show or just looking for a good laugh, this episode is well worth a watch.
