The episode titled "Family Matters" kicks off with Jenelle who is still trying to cope with the aftermath of her breakup with Nathan. She is now living with her new boyfriend David and wants nothing more than for her family to be happy and content. Her mother Barbara, however, does not seem to be on board with the entire setup and is concerned about her children's wellbeing. She visits her lawyer to discuss her options regarding custody and the possibility of getting custody of her grandchildren. Meanwhile, Jenelle is trying her best to mend fences with her mother, and the two meet up to have a civil conversation about their differences.
Next up, Leah is dealing with some serious issues. Her daughter Ali has been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, and she is struggling with the realization that her daughter may have a limited life span. She confides in her sister about her fears and doubts, and the two share a heart-to-heart moment where Leah opens up about her struggles. Corey, Ali's father, is also concerned about his daughter's health and visits her at the hospital while she undergoes tests and scans.
Chelsea, on the other hand, is in a good place. She is excited about her upcoming wedding and is trying to get all her ducks in a row before the big day. She meets up with her best friend to discuss her wedding plans, select her wedding invitations, and is hopeful that everything goes smoothly on her big day.
Over with Kailyn, she is dealing with the aftermath of her dispute with Jo over their custody agreement. Kailyn is unhappy with the fact that Jo's girlfriend Vee is involved in their parenting decisions and feels that her presence is not required in their lives. She vents to her friend about the current situation and seeks advice on how to resolve the conflict without causing any further damage between all the parties involved.
Finally, we have another teen mom, Miranda, who is dealing with her own set of problems. She is working hard to finish her nursing degree while also trying to maintain a relationship with her husband Corey, who is also busy with work and his responsibilities as a father. Miranda's situation is complicated further when her husband considers switching jobs, which would require him to travel frequently. She is hesitant about the decision and seeks advice from her mother and close friends.
