Ep 16. The Allowance Evaporation

Leonard and Penny are having a conversation at home when they both realize that Sheldon has not given them back the money he owes them from when they gave him an allowance. They confront him and Sheldon is shocked and embarrassed that he forgot. He tries to pay them back but they refuse, realizing that it's been a long-standing agreement between them that they give Sheldon a weekly allowance in exchange for Sheldon doing chores around the apartment. However, they tell him that they are cutting him off from now on because he clearly can't handle the responsibility anymore. This throws Sheldon for a loop, as he feels like he can't function without an allowance and now has to figure out how to manage his finances on his own.

Meanwhile, Howard and Bernadette have a confrontation of their own when they realize that Howard has not been keeping a balanced checkbook. Bernadette is infuriated that they may have been spending more money than they thought, especially with the baby on the way. They must figure out a way to balance their finances, while also getting Howard to start being more responsible with their money.

As Sheldon learns to deal with his newfound financial responsibilities, he turns to Raj for advice. Raj, who has been trying to impress his girlfriend with his newfound wealth, offers to give Sheldon some tips on what to do with his money. Sheldon is hesitant at first, but eventually gives in and Raj's advice proves to be quite helpful.

Meanwhile, Howard and Bernadette turn to Penny and Leonard for help in managing their finances. Penny, who has always been pretty good with money, offers to help them establish a budget and figure out how to cut back on expenses. Leonard, who has always been a bit of a spender, is less enthusiastic about the task but eventually comes around.

As the episode progresses, the characters all struggle with their new financial responsibilities. Sheldon finds it difficult to resist the temptation to spend his money, while Howard and Bernadette struggle to stick to their budget. In the end, however, they all learn valuable lessons about the importance of financial responsibility and the importance of having good friends who can help you through tough times.
