Meanwhile, Leonard receives an important offer from a company to work with them in Antarctica, and Penny encourages him to accept the offer.

As the boys work on trying to find Professor Proton, Sheldon is left feeling disappointed when he discovers that he has passed away. Despite this setback, the group still manages to get excited when they learn that Professor Proton had recorded a message for Sheldon, as a fan letter. Sheldon hears the recording, and the message suggests that he should never give up on his dreams and always strive for excellence.

The boys then decide to honor Professor Proton’s legacy by recreating the show. While trying to recreate the show, they find it very difficult to craft a proper script. Howard takes charge of the writing but is unable to write anything good. Leonard tries his hand at it and comes up with the perfect script, but his reason for doing so puts the others off. Finally, Sheldon suggests using some of the lines from his fan letter as a theme for the episode.

The recreation of the show goes well as the team performs to an excited crowd. However, the night takes a strange turn when Sheldon begins to see Professor Proton’s ghost and starts to have weird hallucinations. With the recommendation of a worried Leonard, Sheldon goes to a psychologist to deal with his overactive imagination.

As the episode winds down, Sheldon is happy to realize he is not crazy and that he's dealing with his loss in a healthy way. With the team concluding their recreation project, Leonard decides to pass on the offer to work in Antarctica and chooses to stay with his group moving forward. In the end, the episode becomes a heartfelt tribute to Professor Proton and the impact he had on the characters’ lives.
