Fast-forward to present day and a new Trickster has emerged, played by Devon Graye, who starts causing chaos in Central City. He starts off by planting a bomb in a children's toy which is sold at a local department store. The Flash arrives on the scene in time to save the day, but the Trickster escapes. Meanwhile, we see a struggling Detective Joe West trying to bond with his newly discovered son, Wally.
Barry and Joe investigate the new Trickster's crimes and soon realize that he is working with the original Trickster, James Jesse. They pay him a visit in prison hoping to get some information and find out that he is actually trying to stop the new Trickster from carrying out his master plan. James tells them that the new Trickster is planning to poison a whole bunch of people at a fundraiser held by the rich and famous of Central City. This is where things take a turn for the worse as the new Trickster crashes the party and reveals his true plans.
