Ep 1. The Flash Reborn

After an explosive season 3 finale, The Flash (2014) is back for season 4 with episode 1 titled The Flash Reborn. The episode starts with a quick catch-up with all of the main characters since the events of season 3. Team Flash is still in mourning over losing Barry (The Flash) and are finding it difficult to move on. We see Iris, Barry's girlfriend, doing her best to bring everyone together, while Cisco is still reeling from the loss of his best friend. As the episode progresses, we are introduced to a new villain, Samuroid, who is causing chaos in Central City. Cisco, who is now the leader of Team Flash, and Wally take on Samuroid but quickly realize that they can't do it alone. In the midst of all this chaos, there is an unexpected twist that will leave fans of the show in shock.

Without spoiling too much, let's just say that Barry does not remain absent for the entire episode. The plot of the episode centers around the team trying to bring Barry back to the land of the living. This is where we are introduced to a few new characters, including a scientist named Neil Borman, who has discovered a way to manipulate dark matter and bring people back to life. The team decides to try this method on Barry, but it’s not without its risks.

As the episode progresses, we get glimpses of Barry who is trapped in the Speed Force, a realm of existence that exists outside of time and space. We see him struggling to maintain his sanity while he tries to find a way out. The Speed Force scenes are well done, with stunning visuals, and a sense of chaos that really captures the essence of the Speed Force.

Meanwhile, back in Central City, the team is doing their best to keep the city safe. Samuroid is wreaking havoc, and Wally is doing all he can to stop him. But things get complicated when Caitlin returns, now as the dangerous Killer Frost. Her return throws a wrench into everything, and soon the city is facing not one, but two dangerous villains.

The episode culminates in a thrilling action sequence that sees Samuroid and Killer Frost facing off against the team. It’s a hectic scene, with plenty of speedster action and cool visual effects. And just when it seems like it's all over, there's a huge twist that will leave fans wanting more.

Overall, The Flash Reborn is a strong start to season 4. The episode perfectly balances the emotional weight of losing Barry with the fun, action-packed nature of the show. It sets up a lot of intriguing plot points for the rest of the season, including the return of an old enemy, and the debut of a new hero.
