The Golden Palace is an American sitcom that aired on CBS from September 1992 to May 1993. It is a spin-off of the popular show The Golden Girls, with three of the four main cast members returning to reprise their roles. The premise of the show follows the three women, Blanche (Rue McClanahan), Rose (Betty White), and Sophia (Estelle Getty) as they decide to invest in and run a hotel called The Golden Palace in Miami Beach. They are joined by two new employees, Roland Wilson (Don Cheadle) who runs the hotel's kitchen, and Chuy Castillos (Cheech Marin) who is the hotel's maintenance man.

The show opens with the ladies moving out of their beloved house and into the hotel. They're hit with various dilemmas force them to work together, including losing most of their savings due to a terrible investment an earthquake that devastates the hotel's ground floor, and a pregnant teenage runaway who they take in and help.

The Golden Palace is a comedy filled with puns and light-hearted situations. The show explores issues that are typical in any hotel, ranging from dealing with demanding guests to resolving internal staff disagreements. As in its predecessor, each episode serves up a new challenge to the team, and through their collective efforts, they solve the problems that arise.

Betty White's character, Rose, serves as the show's emotional center. She is lovable and kind-hearted, often serving as the peacemaker when the other characters get into arguments. Rue McClanahan's character, Blanche, uses her Southern charm and sass to get what she wants, often adding comedy to otherwise tense situations. Estelle Getty's character, Sophia, is quick-witted, sassy, and sardonic. She often speaks her mind, and her comebacks add to the show's humor.

Don Cheadle's character, Roland, is the hotel's chef, who often gets into disagreements with Blanche as he tries out new dishes. Cheech Marin's character, Chuy Castillos, is always ready with a quip or a joke, and he and Roland often serve as the show's comedic duo.

The Golden Palace's characters have their own individual subplots that are woven into each episode's storyline. For example, Blanche tries to enter the dating scene after being single for a long time, while Rose's sweet and caring demeanor often winds up getting her involved in other people's problems. Sophia's subplot centers around her dealings with competitive game shows and trying to win the big prize.

Overall, The Golden Palace has proven to be a worthy successor to its predecessor, The Golden Girls. The show is filled with its own unique humor, but retains the same warmth and humanity that made the first show so beloved. Its characters are well-developed, and the show's subplots are well thought-out and rounded out, making for an engaging and entertaining viewing experience.

The Golden Palace is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (24 episodes). The series first aired on September 18, 1992.
