When Kaa sheds his skin, Mowgli asks whether he can have it. Kaa agrees and Mowgli stuffs it with leaves and moss until it looks like a snake again. He plans some mischief with his fake snake and scares Tabaqui with it. When Tabaqui finds out the snake isn't real, he reports back to Shere Kahn, hoping the tiger will avenge this embarrassment.
